Studio A

A 110m² flagship live room designed for boundless creativity. SSL 4000 G+, Fazioli F278, Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 — and the light of the North Aegean flooding in.

About Studio A

Bespoke acoustics
for every musical style

The Studio A live room features huge movable wall panels, allowing the room’s acoustics to be dry enough for full band tracking and reverberant enough for classical ensembles. The ceiling consists of 16 custom designed 360-degree rotating panels. The diffusing side is carbon fiber and oak, and the other side is acoustically absorbent. Besides rotating, each row of four can be raised or lowered independently up to four meters, allowing multiple acoustics in different places of the same room.

The acoustic palette is broadened by two reverb chambers. The small one is made of London Subway tile, and is surprisingly warm and buttery. The large chamber, lined with locally sourced marble opens onto the live room. With the door open, the acoustics of the live room change considerably. Musicians have found varying their distance to the 10m-ceilinged reverb chamber let’s them dial in exactly the acoustics they desire. Of course, both chambers are also fed by speakers running off the SSL, so they are available while mixing in the traditional way.

Live Room
110m² recording space on thick oak parquet, tied in to the 20cm concrete floating floor. Tight bass, with enough room for larger ensembles
Acoustic Design
Designed by Chris Walls of Level Acoustic Design, the spaces sound beautiful and effortlessly controlled – or, if desired, unexpected and full of character.

Two dedicated chambers, each made of different materials with different characters and reverb times. You can even perform inside the large booth for inspiration.
Grand Pianos
Delve into the rich and powerful Fazioli F278, or the spry Steinway Model B. They are complimented by a Hammond B3 and a Rhodes Mk1, plus many vintage synths. We also have a range of drum kits, cymbals, amps, guitars and basses.
Dolby Atmos
The control room features a full 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos certified immersive monitoring system. Make Atmos mixes fully digitally or through the SSL console as inserts.

Control Room

SSL 4000 G+ and
immersive monitoring

Our 48-channel Solid State Logic SL4000G+ was originally built in 1993. Over the past four years however, every component was restored or upgraded while maintaining the original sound. It has a brand new AIM automation and recall system, allowing analog automation from within Pro Tools. It features 16 E-series EQs and 32 G-series EQs (with Mark1 mods), as well as wet/dry control on all dynamic modules. The console can also be used as a controller for in-the-box mixes.

Stereo monitoring is through flush-mounted Telegrapher Rhinos or midfield Telegrapher Gorillas. For reference we also have a pair of Avantone Pro CLA-10 monitors (Yamaha NS-10 reproduction).

Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 monitoring is through flush-mounted Telegrapher Rhinos (LCR), with Elephant subs, and all other monitors being Telegrapher Gorillas. This makes ten Gorillas in the control room!

Outboard racks are full of the classics – LA-2As, 1176s, Distressors, API 2500+, DBX 160, Tube-Tech CL1B – plus additional preamps from BAE, Millennia, Rupert Neve Designs, API, Great River, etc.

“A renovated SSL 4000 G+, modernized for today’s demands while retaining its legendary sonic character.”
